BABA
Classic Polish cooking turned upside down — a clear, dashi-inflected barszcz with enormous depth — plus cocktails that match the best speakeasy bars. Rare to get both this right.
Wrocław · Lower Silesia · Poland
First-hand reviews of the restaurants and cocktail bars worth your evening — no sponsored posts, no tourist traps, no filler.
The short version
Wrocław has the market square, the bridges and the bronze dwarfs — but the reason to stay an extra two nights is the food. The city entered the MICHELIN Guide in 2025 with the strongest debut of any Polish city, and I've now eaten at all three of its Bib Gourmands and the Star. These are my own reviews: what the kitchen delivered, where the service held up, and which rooms actually have a soul.

A Michelin Star that makes serious cocktails, a secret oasis with a real sommelier, the best terrace in the city, and breakfast worth setting an alarm for. All ten reviews on the restaurants page.

A small, secret oasis with an open kitchen. Precision plating that never loses the flavour underneath, and a sommelier who actually reads the table.
The terrace faces the multimedia fountain, and the kitchen is good enough that it doesn't coast on the view. Treated like a guest of honour, billed like you weren't.
Breakfast treated as a discipline — ambitious, consistent, and very cool. Beautiful room, genuinely friendly service, dishes prepared with real care.
Method
Every place is visited and paid for in full. Nothing here is comped, gifted or sponsored.
Weighted heaviest. Is the cooking technically right, and does the ambition on the menu actually land on the plate?
A great dinner needs rhythm. Drinks before food, wine on time, someone who can guide you through a pairing.
Does the room feel alive, or engineered? A beautiful space with no soul is still an empty evening.
The tiebreaker. A technically flawless meal I'd never repeat scores below a scrappy one I already have.
“Instead of a living, breathing restaurant, it feels like sitting in a beautiful movie set — a polished corporate template that looks perfect on camera but feels entirely empty.” — from the Craft review
The recurring theme
The technical standard in this city's kitchens is genuinely high — flawless cod turns up in a fine-dining room and in a bistro on the same weekend.
What separates the places worth returning to is everything around the plate: whether the drinks arrive before the food, whether anyone offers you a pairing, and whether the room feels like it belongs to someone. That's where the scores here are won and lost.
